1. How do I sell my clothing to Duo?
We buy clothing by appointment only. We require an appointment to ensure a buyer is in store and that the requested time fits with the store's schedule. Generally, we accept clothing two years or newer, seasonally relevant, and with little to no signs of wear. 2. If I live outside of Charlottesville, can I still sell clothing?
You can ship your clothing to Duo if you are unable to make it to the store to sell. The shipping label costs $5 and it can be purchased here. Please review all of our polices to ensure you are sending the type of clothing we are looking for. If we decide to take any of your clothing, then we will issue you a payment via PayPal. Duo will also refund the $5 shipping cost if we can donate the clothing we did not purchase. However, your $5 will not be refunded if you want your items shipped back to you.
3. Is Duo's Gently Worn Section a resale or a consignment shop?
We are a resale boutique, which means we buy the clothing directly from our customers. Consignment shops allow you to remain the owner of the item until it sells and then you receive payment. Through our resale process, customers can either receive cash on the spot or a Gift Card for store credit. (Store credit is only available when clothing is sold in store.)
3. What is the shipping policy?
All orders will ship no later than the next business day (excluding custom monogram orders) and we ship through UPS. Standard shipping is $8.95 for any order under $100, and free for any order above $100. Please contact us at (434) 979-1212 if you need a faster shipping option and we can determine the cost.
4. Does do Duo ship outside of the United States?
We always welcome orders from outside the United States, however they will be subject to an additional shipping fee, and possibly customs and importation costs. Please contact us at (434) 979-1212 or at email@example.com if you plan to order from another country so we can determine the costs.
5. What is Duo's return policy?
Our full online return policy can be found here. For in store purchases, new items can be returned in 7 days for a full refund or 14 days for store credit. Sale items can be returned in 7 days for store credit only. Gently worn items are not returnable.
6. There is no size guide listed. How can I determine if something will fit me?
Unfortunately, every brand and even style has its own fit. We try our best to be as familiar with these discrepancies as possible. Please call us at (434) 979-1212 if you are interested in a particular item and need more information on how it may fit.
7. Does Duo have any other store locations?
No, our only physical location is located off the historic "Corner" at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Previously, we had a location in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and a seasonal "Pop-up" location in the Shops at Stonefield. Our online shop is available to everyone worldwide and open 24/7, 365 days a year.
8. Does Duo accept new vendors?
Duo does not buy merchandise from new, start-up vendors or wholesale representatives outside of the markets we attend.
9. Can I host my private shopping event at Duo?
Yes, we do host private shopping events for philanthropic organizations. Generally they have occurred on Thursdays from either 5-7 PM or from 6-8 PM. We give shoppers 10% off their entire purchases and 10% of the proceeds go to your cause. 10. Will Duo donate to my philanthropy/charity?
Yes, Duo is glad to consider donating gift cards to events hosted by local organizations in our community. Please submit your donation request at least 2 weeks in advance of the date of your event along with your philanthropic cause and tax identification number. You can either email us at email@example.com or stop by our store.
